My gelding tries to bite me when putting on and taking off his rugs. He hasn't actually ever got me but I think that is more down to me being ready for him.

I'm just not sure what to do to try and make him aware that it's not an acceptable way to behave ??

At the moment I raise my voice or turn his head back round and if needed tie him up but still have to be careful when doing the front up.

Anyone have ideas on how to stop him ??

Thanks

mine was like this when I first got him. Someone suggested I tense my hands into a crab shape and "bite" him. I think in NH they call it the "prickly" something or other, I just gave him a short sharp prod with my fingertips every time he tried and a week later, he'd stopped completely.

3yrs later he still lifts his hinds and swishes his tail when I go under his belly but he's a cranky beggar and I tolerate that because he doesn't actually bite or kick. It's okay that he doesn't like it, just not okay when he gets his teeth out.
