Is anyone able to shed some light on my situation. Sorry its long.
I have a 6 year old mare who I have owned for 2 years. We was having a few problems last year and vets diagnosed her with Navicular, she was back in work and doing well for a couple of months and I had her booked into Rockley to go down the barefoot option, but before we got there she started dragging a hind leg, vet back out and with work ups they found OCD in hocks but one of the chips had moved - hence the new lameness. I cancelled rockley as I needed to have chips removed and I didnt want her to have to deal with coping with barefoot straight after opp - was going to rebook when sound again. She was operated on straight away. surgery was a success and advised she should return to full work without any problems. 4 weeks after surgery the hocks swelled and on investigation she had hemorrhaged. 4 weeks later she started walk work we are now, 5 months post surgery and she still isnt sound some days very nearly there and other days very lame, last week farrier had problems shoeing as unable to lift leg and said wear on feet was very uneven. vet has always said keep working her through it (he has seen her 6 times post surgery for checks). Now another vet is involved (from same practice) and has said possibly small bleed in joint that is causing all this and has suggested we inject the joint, I have spoken to my vet for his opinion on this and he has just said yes maybe thats an option -Im very confused by it, has anyone been in a similar situation or any elses horse have OCD and are they back in work - did it all work out?
