After 3 years of MANY investigations and red herring, my 10 year old highland mare has been diagnosed with ddft and collateral ligament damage plus sacroiliac disease. The vet believes the sacroiliac is secondary to the forelimb lameness although she was an exceptional daft youngster and had falls in trainng and in the field, all apparently dealt with at the time but who knows.
Has anyone else had these two problems together and did you work out which came first? This is important in deciding how to approach rehab. My gut feeling is the si joint came first which does not bode well for rehabbing the front end (she is on w/l for Rockley) but we wont really know unless we try and i need to do something whilst insurance still valid.
Also any therapies which helped sacroiliac? Miracle cures? I am thinking about acupuncture as it helped me alot (similar injury!)
