can anybody tell me possible treatments and their success please?

we have already tried special shoeing and medicating the coffin joint

my friend took on a horse that was about to be PTS due to his severe navicular - hed had all the vet treatment that was available - nothing worked. She took him natural barefoot and he came sound to ride and compete again.

Absolutely barefoot all the way. It works!

thanks guys, vet is thinking about medicating directly into th enavicular bursa but i feel we are running out of options

sorry to ask but are they 100% it navicular as i was told by two different vet my horse had this but he had collatral ligament damage which is near the navicular area mri scan comfirmed this he also had injection in his navicular bursa that didnt work but i did let my horse go barefoot hes now sound and still barefoot

depends on horse - mine was barefoot couple years ago and gave it 9 months but just couldnt cope as has thin soles and bruised very easily and was ok in boots but due to her toeing action just could keep them on without moving (and we tried 4 diff makes) she was then diagnosed with djd in hocks and was recomended remidial shoeing so shoes put back on - immediatley walked out gr8.
this year was diagnosed with navicular - she was put on bute for 2 weeks has had eggbars with wedges and was put on navilox - she came sound and stayed sound after bute and then gradually removed navilox and touch wood is still sound - she is worked every day in an arena - we dont hack much now but thats due to having to do alot of roadwork and dont want to do too much on hard surface - will get thru winter and introduce harder ground next yr and see if still sound

you need to increase circulation to the DDFT and navicular area - try feeding nettles, garlic as helps, mine has bioflow boots on front legs at night. she has collasped heels so the wedges help immediatley.

she has remedial shoeing which has a raised heel a pad underneath and natural balance shoes.

the problem we are having is that the coffin joint is pinching as well

i'm not insured now for arthritis but vet said could mediacate joint - i know you have said you have done that - what with??
i have heard some ppl say tildren good and some say aquedan? - might be worth asking vet what difference?
if coffin joint not sure what else to suggest. - am hoping mine stays sound and her coffin joint spur doesnt develop and make her lame.
general arthritis supplement - how about pernamax????? - i have just swopped mine onto it and she is more looser - i have read that some horses can go from being lame to sound to on it? worth a go - one month about £28 tablets.

We've had Tildren, IRAP, medicating the joint and shock wave therapy. He's currently sound on his fronts but has now managed to do something to his pelvis. Eejit.

I steroid twice put in my horses navicular bursa didnt work then had adaqean didnt work then tildren twice special shoes six months box rest none worked had irap did work then i put him on recovery eq which is a joint supplement but soooooooo expensive and from amercia but hes sound and in good work but never jumped again
