Which do people think look smarter?! I have always stuck with tweed and beige at unaffil level and my dabbles in BE, only place I have ever felt a bit odd was at the occasional bit of BD I have done.
However this has always been on my little arab who has a full mane and tail (mane often plaited along his neck but still....) so kind of 'hacking' turnout.
My first issue with this is that I think on youngster I am going to get VERY warm in my tweeds on a hot day!
And new boy (well had him almost a year now!) is a big sportshorse type, who will be plaited and trimmed etc etc....
Am contemplating buying a (lighter weight) navy jacket and some white jods.... disadvantage of this is fat legs in white jods....!! Well I'm not exactly fat but am a size 12 rather than 8....
What do you all wear and for what discipline and on what type of horse?! Any pics greatly appreciated before i shell out anything.....

I prefer black/navy to tweed, but thats just me, and its standard here. BUT I always think navy jacket and white jods look odd. If you're going to wear a navy jacket, I would wear beige/cream jods, and if you're wearing black, white jods look good..but beige looks fine too.

I've always been taught to never wear navy and white as a combo :D Buuut thats just me.

ETA - I do dressage, showing and SJ. For dressage and SJ its always a black jacket. Always white jods with dressage..for showjumping I sometimes wear black and beige/fawn whatever :P
Showing is always navy and cream/beige.
Aaaand generally its on a TB or WB type..but more often that not, a full TB. Having said that, I don't change what I wear regardless of whether I'm riding a little show pony type, or a solid hunter type warmblood :)

i have horrid legs :o but i recommend pikeur breeches of holding it all in ;) def the most complimentary and worth the ££'s to not have my thighs wobbling like two ferrets fighting in a bin bag :o
other than that i can't help i'm afraid as i'm in same position lol!

I don't own a black/navy jacket, I just wear tweed and a coloured stock for everything, ie affiliated and unaffilated eventing, SJ and dressage. Personally I think it looks smarter but that's just me! Think you should still wear beige jodhs with a navy jacket, white is a hopeless colour whatever size you are!

Hmm interesting re the navy and white not being 'done'. Needs to be a navy jacket really as have navy hat and navy beagler.... But would save me a few pennies if only need the jacket :)
And totally agree about white - have two friends who are both tiny size 8s and they just about get away with white!!
Lol at ferrets in a bin bag that almost made me snort my tea onto my desk!!
Mabel98 I have always agreed but just wonder if navy might look smarter with the big horse and be a bit cooler!

Agree about navy jacket being cooler. I do sweat in my tweed on warm days but as it's not for long, I put up with it!

Same... but fortunately my older boy is never particularly hard work so even though I do get a bit warm its not awful...however young'un requires an awful lot more 'riding' at the moment! And I was puffing most unattractively at the end of a 30 minute lesson on wednesday!!

i wear navy blue and white jods for BSJA'ing. i think it looks fine, i was always lead to believe that men wore black and ladies wore blue, but i may be wrong! I wear tweed and cream jodpurs for BE'ing or anything else. I tend to avoid white jodpurs apart from BSJA as i always spill egg yoke and ketchup from my sandwich down them!

How about navy jacket and Beige/cream breeches? It will be cooler (jacket) and the beige breeches more flattering.....I don't own a single pair of white breeches! The most unflattering things ever (I am also a size 12)

I dont like white breeches, so would only wear beige with either jacket. Navy is more 'correct' for a lady too. Black is traditionally for men.

I have a wool tweed jacket but its very lightweight- not the thick wooly hunting type one. It feels more like a synthetic one tbh but it is 100% wool, made by mears.

Thanks guys - going to go for a navy jacket and stick with the beige jods!
My tweed one is very warm and thick, great in winter but not so great in summer so hopefully my new blue one will be lighterweight!

For me it is white breeches and a navy jacket and always has been. I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. I would also bet that the only person that would notice your legs in white jods would be you! :)

I have a black jacket and white breeches for BE, RC, PC apart from PC areas when I have to wear beige with PC tie rather than stock. It is correct for men to wear black and women Navy but I already had 2 black hats so went for black tbh I don't think I look out of place in white BE but I'm looking to find a nice beige pair that aren't too brown more of a cream as I prefer a light beige or white when I use a white saddle cloth and stock.

I was just having this dilemma, I currently have a tweed jacket and beige breeches but I have a shirt and tie as this is what we had to wear at college shows. I wasn't sure what I should be wearing, I'm only likely to be doing unaff dressage, SJ etc but I don't want to look like a tool!
