Nearly had a heart attack watching this..

Shocking to watch. Sadly not surprising considering the complete lack of 'horse aware' some of our road users have this day and age.
Hope the driver had a fright as much as we did, and more..
Poor horses and riders.

apparently the driver stopped, apologised and was apparently genuine so the riders have decided to not take it any further which is their choice. absolutely horrific, I wouldn't be so generous though.

They should take it further, it's the only way idiots like that will learn. Also maybe if drivers are prosecuted for driving like that the message will get through. Those riders are not doing other riders any favours by not taking that incident to the police.

Saw this on FB, it really doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened. That bay horse's sense of self preservation was the only thing preventing a horrendous accident. I too think the riders should report it, the driver was clearly not driving to suit the road conditions.

I'm actually quite angry that it's not being taken further. That was driving without due care and attention and could very easily ended up with a dead rider, horse and driver.

I'm actually shivering cold after watching this! It could have been a horrifying accident! And, because of drivers like this, my horse had to be reschooled to ride safely on roads - still a work in progress. :(

The lady who posted the video on facebook has reworded her post and it now doesn't say anything about whether she will be taking this further. Hopefully she's had a rethink as it really does no favours for other road users if idiots like this are allowed to get away with this sort of horrific, dangerous driving.

It's all very well being sorry, but it was a straight road - you can see it in the early part of the video when the grey horse spun. There's absolutely no excuse for doing what she did. "Genuinely sorry" wouldn't have cut it if she'd hit one of the horses, and I'm amazed that she didn't. Absolute brainless twonk...

I hope this does get taken further, I don't care how 'apologetic' the driver was afterwards, his actions nearly killed 2 innocent people & horses.

He deserves the book to be thrown at him & more of the general public to see this.

Dead people & horses can't hear the word 'Sorry' I

Can the police not prosecute with the footage without needing the consent of the riders? It's not exactly a situation where it's hard to tell who's at fault!

Same. Unless people like this are charged they think it's ok. You should lose your license for being that stupid.

That is unbelievable. Wonder if driver was looking at phone/fiddling with radio or something - not that I'm saying it's in anyway excusable- just wondering if they haven't been paying attention and didn't see them? Hope they take it further this person needs to be charged.

these cameras are a brilliant thing for actually showing people who have no horse awareness at all why they should slow down. I find so many people have preconceived ideas about horse riders and think that we are making a fuss about nothing. These videos actually show people what happens when they dont slow down in a way that the spoken word does nt.

We are witnessing a potentially fatal incident there; its a miracle they were physically ok. It's all well and good the driver was sorry but it should be taken further; they were driving dangerously/without due care and attention.

I got the impression the idiot driver came round a left hand bend, obviously way too fast and without any thought whatsoever of what could be on the road ahead, just around that bend. Both riders and horses were so very, very lucky had they not jumped into the verge/hedge. Why do some drivers insist on travelling at such speed, (even if the road does display the maximum speed limit) on winding country roads/lanes and around blind bends? The very fact they are driving on a rural/country road should make them even more aware of possible hazards ahead.

NOPE
NOPE NOPE NOPE
Oh my lord, this could have been fatal!! My boy is an angel in traffic, but even he would have spooked at this, and one wrong move could get three people killed (although admittedly, I wouldn't have been so sad about the stupid driver's demise...)

That was indeed horrendous. If I was involved and the driver was genuinely apologetic I probably wouldn't take it further either. Hopefully the shock it will have given him will do the trick as much as a 'ticking off' by the Police would - and in my experience I believe that's all he would get I'm a afraid.

Was it a woman driver then? Funnily enough I just thought it was a man / boy racer.

Thank God rider in front was experienced enough to handle her horse! It could have all been so different and yes the driver should be reported - doesn't set a good example for other idiots on the road. People have spent too much time and effort trying to educate drivers around horses to have it wasted by some p**t!

I have showed this video to horsey and nonhorsey people and all of them jumoed! That is horrendous driving, if i was sat in the red car I would of found it terrifying nevermind on a horse!
If you drive like that its only a matter of time before you kill someone or yourself.
I think this video would be better for BHS campaign that the one they have.
