Nebulising a horse

Hi, hoping someone can help me out. I have a 14.2h Connie called Spud who has equine asthma. He used to be OK having the nebuliser put on while the steriods went in but recently he has taken a dislike to having it done and takes his head in and out all the time. I did have it done up around his head but he threw a wobbly and now I just put his nose in the nebuliser and hold it. Any ideas or tips will be appreciated.

Nothing to add I'm afraid. My oldie started off on an inhaler 'to see how he goes' with a view to forking out for a nebuliser if it worked. Virtually had to ambush him, get him in a headlock, retrieve inhaler from various places on the yard where he had knocked it out of my hand....you get the picture. If he will stand with his nose in the nebuliser, you are doing well. Hopefully once you have sorted out his triggers and removed them, you may be able to reduce the dose. I have identified hay in any shape or form, dry dust and ivermectin. As long as we stay away from those, he doesn't need medication.

There may be more to that than meets the eye! Old Dobbin went onto a largely forage replaced diet last winter, due to dental challenges, and recommendations from the Equibiome test.. This year he has has more replacers than long stalk forage, has held his weight and condition, no mud rash, frogs are shedding with strong healthy frogs evident and no thrush - and no coughing noted at all last summer. Can't clear the faecal water, but at least, three out of four is good going.

I took ours for a walk when he needed to be nebulised - it gave him something else to think about and because he was moving he was breathing more deeply so the cycle finished more quickly.
