Neck injections - please tell me your success stories

Prior to injections, uncomfortable to the point of not lying down. 5 days on from treatment now lying down and rolling and much more flexible. Also on 4cyte , done the loading and now on maintenence dose. What can I expect moving forward? Will we be able to hunt (no jumping) or do I stick to happy hacking? Happy either way as long a she is comfortabble. Experiences please.

What was found on x-Ray? I think with necks it depends how significant the problem is.

My mare has changes in C3-4 and had it medicated 2 weeks ago, we’re still hacking at the moment but my vet hopes she can go back to normal work load.

Compared to my gelding who had a malformation at C6-7, steroids worked for 4 months and he was sadly PTS after. He was neurological.

5-6 and 6-7 She can have a slight neurological sideways head tremor but only at rest, and this doesn't affect her at all if ridden. I've not gone down the MRI route yet and the vets aren't really sure what is causing the head tremor. It could be nerve pressure but no definitive answer to date.

Is that arthritic changes to 5-6 and 6-7? And definitely not ECVM (as that can be in those joints)

It’s great she’s improved so quickly, I think it’s just about seeing with time how she gets on. The vet that specialises in necks advised me some do great and the steroid lasts a long time, some it only lasts a few months. He didn’t really have a definite answer of how long I’d get pain free with my gelding, all depends how much pain and inflammation is there.

My vet that medicated my mare a couple of weeks ago has good outcome with steroids. I have everything crossed.

My mare is also on 4cyte, I’m going to ask for some Cartrophen as I do think that helped last time she had it.

They said arthritic, and no-one has suggested ECVM. Apart from a bit of stiffness due to lack of work she is well balanced and showing no other signs.
 
That area of the neck suffers compression with any horse that's on the forehand or compressed ie strong contact, behind the vertical etc (which many feel that by definition keeps them on the forehand) in front, so it will depend how well you can improve on that ie the rehab, the quality and quantity of it, and how much of it you're happy to keep doing long term.

SLIGHTLY overstating it in the opening sentence, but she's on the money otherwise

Never said "force"....all sounds good :), but, as always, the devil is in the detail. Never any judgement from me, I don't know you or really anyone else on here, so it's never having a go at anyone, but I see horses ruined by poor groundwork and very few truly developing their posture. Always good to keep taking in new perspectives, the latest thinking on posture, rehab etc, and so often that doesn't come from vets or even bodyworkers.
