My breastplate snapped during XC training a couple days ago, I bought a new one online but its just arrived and doesnt fit very well. I have an old elastic V breastplate I can use for the XC at a BE event this weekend but it doesnt have a neck bit that I could grab onto! I was thinking about using a stirrup leather as a neck strap, is this allowed under BE rules for the XC?

my friend does BE and she has attached hers to the saddle as she said you are now not allowed just a neck strap which isnt attached to anything......it seems a bit of a grey area as the new rule changes on BE site say neck straps not allowed for FEI classes but are allowed for BE. nothing said about them being attached or loose, might be worth contacting BE for absolute clarification as if you compete with the wrong tack you can be eliminated even if they only notice after you have completed...

My step daughter also attaches hers now.

perhaps i read it wrong but it looked life neckstraps were not allowed for fei......logically for safety it is probably a good idea to have it attached in case it went forward if horse pecked badly or fell and could get its leg caught...

Thanks everyone, am back from my weekend of eventing and I didnt attach it to anything - nobody said anything and I saw several others the same so phew all good! No FEI for us, just bog standard BE ;) Thanks!
