Hello All
Ive not been about on here for a while !!! Had abit of a nasty accident on my horse two weeks ago , A week prior he had the cairopract out and dentist ! The cairopract advised me my saddle was too wide even though i had it made to measure 6mnths ago so i rode him in a friends narrower saddle ! I had been jumping I was concentrating on riding him into the bridle the last thing i remember was one buck or ten lol ! I was totally knocked out for a fair while at the time i couldnt remember a thing not even whether i had been jumping ect ... I didnt go to hospital untill the next day thought id be ok ! it was a right drama neck brace head strapped to boards xrays the lot ! I had a muscular trauma injury to the neck which was caused by the impact of the fall ! im fine now and riding again i am a little catious now though but i went to high cross the weekend came 4th in 2.9 and 2nd in 3ft thing ill just bring myself back round slowy allthough i do feel a little worried about pushing him forward or galloping him now ! He now has a new stubben saddle which fits much better but that is still in the back of my mind and his too as he has been on his toes since ! Ow and at the time i had run out of brewers yeast and he was on edge and flighty untill i got some more and it got back into the system dnt care what anyone says it does really work for my horse !!!!!!!

Hi, that sounds pretty awful, poor you. I had a similar injury jumping some time ago and the 'knocked out' bit was as a result of me landing on my head and damaging my neck.

I couldnt remember a thing either but realised I coudnt remember so got pretty scared - very difficult to explain but I suspect you will know what I mean. My memory came back in flashes, just like they say it does but it is pretty weird because you almost dont believe you were doing what the flash says you were....not sure if you are with me.

I found the whole experience pretty scarey and it did dent my confidence for a while which seems to be the case with you. My advice would be to move everything down a level until you feel more confident and then go back to where you were before.

I suspect your horse didnt like the feel of the replacement saddle and it pinched somewhere hence the bucking. If you have a new one fitted now it is unlikely to happen again but just take a bit of time. I suspect your horse is also a bit upset by it all, probaby pretty shocked when you flew over his head and thumped on the floor and he was suddenly riderless. They dont usually like us to fall off!

Good luck
