I nearly didn't post this, as I'm sure you're sick of getting a new thread every time Ned does anything!

But I can't help it, I'm SO proud!
Not long ago, Ned would barely stand for my good and experienced farrier, even with his face in a bucket of food.

Today, he stood nicely while my Dad tried to get his poultice boot thing on!! Dad never wanted to go near him, while not afraid of horses, I can totally understand not wanting to get hurt! But today he offered to do this because my weak arms were failing me :P
I honestly look back on times when I couldn't even get him to the gate without a rearing session that would put stunt horses to shame, or him wrenching his hoof away and lashing out at the farrier, or not being able to tie him up without him spinning and fidgeting like mad!!

I love him <3 <3

bless him, good on your dad! how is the abscess getting on? better I hope!

nice to hear a good story about a rearer, my baby was like that this time last year, I was genuinely scared of him, got a boot in the mouth one day! and suddenly moving yards made the world of difference! <3

It's ok so far :) Looks like it's healing nicely!

It's a fantastic feeling, isn't it? Something just clicks :D
I will admit, it's one of the only times I've actually been scared of Ned. Not so much for me (as I always kept a good distance) but for himself, he nearly slipped so many times and learnt to hook his hoof over the rope and pull it away!!

Mum & I were having a similar conversation today - remembering all the things P couldn't do even a year ago (catching & leading in the field nicely, was one of them!) & never mind skipping out whilst he was the in the stable ... Suicide! Today on a wet, windy day he just stood beautifully whilst we mucked out around him.

It's an awesome feeling when it all comes together isn't it?! Congratulations :)

It's so awesome to remember what they were like and how they are now :D I honestly never thought we'd get here!

And my Dad can be a pain in the bum...but then he does something like this and I remember how good he really is hehe! But then I'm sure he thinks I'm a pain in the bum Daughter :P
