First a bit bad=good. Ned jumped out of his pen...again. So YO left him in his field alone, as he doesn't churn up the ground much. She came out later to find he'd jumped into the hay storage!!! (A little yard like area) She thought she'd leave him as he'd only jump back in again if she took him out. She then came out the next morning and he was gone!! YO looked out into the "Big Boys" field...and there he was! Happily munching away with the others
This is a massive step! YO tried a while ago to get him in there, but he jumped out and clipped the gait. She didn't want to risk it as she's lost a horse that way, even though she desperately wanted him to live out with the others.
He now seems as happy as anything in there
WE HACKED ALONE!!
After Carefreegirl had ridden Ned and made him go so nicely out in front, I figured I should use her no nonsense, firm but fair approach. I walked him out in-hand first, before I got on and he seemed very chilled. I found a good spot to jump on and we were off!!
He was a bit nervous, but I can't blame him!
I tried to go through the ford on the way home, but a sign was hiding in the bushes and he refused to go past. I turned him around (bare in mind I turned him away from home) and we headed back a different route. Then it hit me. I LET him win!!
So, I turned again and we had a few issues (man stopped and said "Oh, he's a feisty one isn't he!!" lol!) but I got him back and we rode confidently past the sign and back home.
It was only a 20min hack, but I am over the moon!!!
I might try again later when I go back
Now, for pictures!! Sadly I didn't get any out on the hack, I don't feel I'm quite ready to handle horse and camera quite yet
But here he is enjoying his new field!
