That makes it sound like he couldn't walk before...

No, another update :)

Well, he was a pig again! But a firm hand and a treat waved in his face, he left the first gate.
The 2nd gate was hell. He brought back the rearing technique, but I did not give him an inch. I stayed out of the reach of his hooves, but I didn't back down, but also didn't get cross. Eventually, he came near the gate and sniffed...he figured it wasn't sooo bad and we were off! He got his treat as he came out the gate.

The actual walk was fab, we went a route we've never gone before on foot and he didn't do a single thing wrong. We even went along a path that we usually have a bit of fun along! Did he get strong or silly? Nope! Absolute perfection.

We past a scary dog barking and snapping, he didn't even look at it. A bunch of cars, vans, tractors, lorries, bikes, motorbikes and stuff went past, he didn't look at that either.

Our little spat on the yard aside, I'm very very proud!

We had a little snack stop :P

Here's the path we usually canter up, it is rather wide! I'm not balancing on the edge of a ploughed field :P

Checking out the scenery!

Why aren't you riding him at the moment Nah? One (hopefully useful!) pointer - i'd take your reins off your bridle walking in hand like that - saves you risking getting anything caught on a gateposts etc ;)

He looks very well at the moment!

I am :) I ride him in the afternoons with the group :) since he's gone a bit weird with the gate, I've decided just to stick to in-hand for the moment when I'm by myself :)

And thanks :) I shall take them off! I'm not using this bridle for riding at the moment anyway, so it shan't be too much of a faff :)

A little video to prove how good he was!
that first clip is him walking up our usual canter bit :)

I thought about using my helmet cam to show you guys what he does on the yard. It's quite spectacular. I obviously can't film with my normal camera, I need both hands, but helmet can would leave me hands free!
