Ned's vet report

The vet has been!
We're still not 100% what the actual problem is, but we now know it's his knee, not his fetlock or tendon/ligament that is sore as I first thought. She thinks he may have fallen to his knees when field hopping, or bashed it somehow.
He's been put on bute for a week, so we're going to see how that goes, but if nothing improves then we may have to consider an Xray or nerve blocking (eek!)

She also recommended that I get some ice-boots, can anyone point me in the direction of some?

She also thinks he may have a bit of a sore back, so the back lady is coming out again soon!

I think Premier Equine do ice boots but not sure about any other companies.

My boy is also having back problems at the moment and I have the back lady out tonight to hopefully get him sorted.

Lets hope both our boys feel better soon - they certainly have a knack for making us feel like bad mums don't they

As to ice boots - they don't actually stay cold for that long! Your better off geting the ice cube bags you fill yourself as they will be colder longer and can bend round anything. Just don't forget to put a layer of something on before the ice.

Thanks I do have a human icepack that I got from boots, it seems to stay cold for a while! Yea, the pack I got comes in a little bag, which I've held on my skin and it seems ok

A bag of frozen peas works wee as it shapes itself easily then you just refreeze them and use again but mark the bag to stop them getting eaten by accident

Equine America's Like Ice is good, you don't need to cover it for it to work so it's ideal for difficult areas like knees.

You're not a bad owner, horses hurt themselves in fields despite our best efforts. Hope you get him sorted, loads more endurance rides about, peak of the season next few months.

Poor Ned mine had his x rays Wednesday. Inconclusive. So now needs an MRI. Vet thinks either ddft or pedal bone fracture which isn't showing up. Bad times
