For a clean horse made me LOL! I have never used it before but put my new horse on it - I have had him 4 weeks now and am really struggling with it as I cannot get a base at all and can't decide if the horse is just really messy or the bedding isn't that good! I loved it when I made the brand new bed out of it and when I put a new bag down but he churns the whole bed up day and night
i tried it with my dirty horse. But have gone back to shavings. Great to start with and cheaper than shavings. But was heavy to work with when wet. Shavings just seem lighter to work with especially when doing the "big muck out". But one girl on our yard has a very very clean horse and it always looks fab and clean, never disturbed, and easy for her to muck out with. Each to their own I suppose.
I put a deep litter base of it under a nice thick straw bed (with straw banks so it just goes in the middle). It work out more expensive but saves me so much work compared to when he was just on straw.
I liked it a lot. However it doesn't suit if you want to take the wet out everyday, its so absorbsent so it just keeps soaking it up. You then take the wet out in one compact clump every 3 or 4 days. Slightly like deep littering I suppose. Does that make sense?
I use the pro, found myself replacing the entire bed every day because Beau is so dirty is was just a mass of poo and wee mixed together! Its not his fault though his stable is too smal for him really, hence why he now lives out!
Great for clean horse, not too great to deep litter with.
