Hi

I am new on here and could with some advice if anyone has a few minutes to spare.

I have a 15.2 h Welsh X Dark Bay Mare and I am wanting to show her at local shows to start of with, now my question is shall i show her as a part bred m and m, only because girls on my yard are tell me to show her as a hunter type she has got good top line and looks thick in the neck when plaited up.

i know her mane will be plaited does her tail also need pulling and plaiting, and what is the correct turnout for horse and ride if i show as part bred M and M

Thank you in advance

When you show as a part bred M&M you need to turn them out to the standard of a ridden show type, so even if they are Welsh x they should conform to a type when shown, most will be either of hunter type or riding horse type, they cannot be shown as they would if they were pure bred so must be pulled and plaited, tail should be pulled at the top or can be plaited but must be trimmed short, cut straight at the bottom, heels and beard should be trimmed closely, basically they should not look like a M&M even in a pb class.

The rider should be in tweed, beige jods, long black boots, brown gloves, shirt and tie, carry a short show cane, horse should wear a plain bridle for hunter type, velvet browband for RH, double, pelham or snaffle if not ready for anything else, numnah which should be discrete and ideally blend in with the horse.
