Don't you love people? ? Walking across a field back to the car with our dog on a lead an owner let's their completely wired two small dogs come charging over having witnessed her encouraging them both to 'play' fight for one toy and filming that for their socials (we only know this as they were so loud declaring this to a practically empty park) ?

One dog in particular had no recall and completely ignored the owners attempts to call it back whilst jumping all over our dog and owner exclained 'Haha - I knew that would happen!'

We carried on walking hoping dog would lose interest or owner might have some success as our dog was getting more nervous and pulling hard to get back to the car & leave the situation.

We then explained ours is a nervous rescue dog that would find someone he doesn't know that is generally loud, still shouting, waving their hands around to then bend down in front of him whilst their dog is still harrassing him far too much so for everyone's safety and to get it over with ASAP we'll get our dog in the car and they can sort out theirs (as theirs was far too small to reach our car boot).

We then get a stream of verbal abuse about our dog, our behaviour and our level of intelligence even once in the car and we're driving away ?

On the bright side, I'm SO proud of how our dog held it together so well ❤

I’d have explained it very succinctly to them. But I suppose you never know who’s going to punch you nowadays.

I saw a news story recently about a woman assaulted when she asked another dog owner to put their dog on a lead. People have gone feral with their entitlement.

Well done to you and your dog for keeping cool OP.

Don't ask! Tell them to do it. I use my best teacher voice and they rarely argue. In fact I can't think of anyone who has argued, they might chunter under their breath as they walk away but who cares?

Oh and carry a big stick!

Well I mean this has happened to my dog so many times now, that her go-to thing is to aim straight for the other dog's face, so I have to hold on tight and don't really have time to explain.

(Not all dogs, she just had a nice play with her favourite Yorkie, just strange ones that get up in her grill).

I’ve done that so many times and people still query and refuse. I remember walking across a very short, narrow footbridge over a stream with 3 on leads, some bloke let his very nervy collie off to run over in the opposite direction. Brig, Mr Calm, was nearest and had a go at her. I just couldn’t understand why he hadn’t waited the 10 seconds it would have taken me to get off the bridge. He didn’t move, just let his dog run the gauntlet of the approaching 3 spaniels. People are weird. I hope your boy is ok.
