My 4yo coloured hunter needs a saddle for showing. I have tried lots of working hunters but he has some big withers and all the WH saddles I have tried have been a good fit. Saddle fitter said that WH saddles are build on a flat tree. She has suggested finding a brown dressage saddle and cutting the long girth straps. Does anyone else show in a brown dressage saddle?

Yes! Ideal Jessica with suede seat & knees in Brown- fits everything i put it on and very comfortable. I have happily jumped 3'3" WH courses in it and even hunted in it.

We had similar problem. Our saddler spoke to farrington and they used an eventing tree and WH flap stuck it together and made a saddle!! We do SH and hopefully soon will do WH too. Not bad price either had suade seat and it was £830.

Dressage saddles have a much deeper seat. Some judges just don't like riding on them and find them uncomfortable which is obviously not good news if you are expecting them to enjoy the ride on your horse!
If you look at the difference in the seats:

Some dressage saddles are not so deep, but you do need to bear it in mind.

I have a stubben Pacival for working hunter. Lovely comfy saddle and ideal for Workers. It is also looking for new home.

I have an Albian VSD which I use for everything, dressage, showing etc. Its a really nice saddle and ideal for showing, especially if you cant afford more than one saddle. Mine where stollen by do as you likies and so I had to just get one, plus I would not keep it at the yard agian, so easier to store one
