Need a 'skimpy' turnout rug suggestions please

Hi, I have a finely built 14.2 Arab. Every rug I buy her is way too generous in body depth, comes down to her knees and the belly straps just about go round her twice! I've been trying cheaper makes in the hope they might skimp on material to keep costs down and so fit better. So far Gallop rugs are the best I've found but still too deep and belly straps need shortened. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I bought a "cheapie" stable rug years ago that was like a micro mini skirt. It was a Rhinegold, so they might be worth looking at?

I have the same issue with belly straps and my horse isn't petite. Amigo were the least slack/too long out of the brands I've tried but they are a bit nippit over the chest/shoulders for mine.

This is a rhinegold no fill 5'6 on my 13.2 fell pony who is very broad it fits around the chest but is down to her knees I don't know if that helps.

When I went to have a look round at Halsdon Arabians all theirs had Amigo/Rhino/Rambo rugs on - obviously there were a LOT of Arabs there, all wearing the same make and they fitted quite neatly.

Agree that Horseware is your best bet, I have always had fine horses and they are my go to .

Amigo - bought a 5'9" for a 14.1 riding pony and it was too small for her! Both Bucas & Shires 5'9" were roomy on her.

Yes horsewear are good for narrow horses! Also shires but not the highlander range. Best would be Shires typhoon or tempest or horsewear rhino or amigo x

Do you find the Saxon rugs waterproof? They have a plaid turnout rug that I like the look of.

Amigo Mio is what I always try and get for our arab or other really slim ponies. He has a shires tempest as well but it keeps coming up at the back, although the depth is alright.

never used them, i just know they fit petite horses (mine are the opposite, absolute bruisers!)

I like Bridleway Ontario rugs. I found surcingles too long on others.
Rambo layer system is what I aim to get once he stops growing.

An update to this, got an eBay bargain, Amigo middle weight wig. Just put it on her. It fitted straight out of the bag no need to even adjust the straps! Thanks all for the suggestions

My Arabians have always had Rambo rugs with the occasional Amigo and Weatherbeata. I've had them all for years, don't wash or reproof them. Always hang them up to dry on long bars rather than hooks.
