Need a translator! :)

Hi

I'm looking for a showjumper and I am finding it tricky to translate some BSJA ads! (I'm Irish) If something is jumping Discovery or Newcomers, what height is that?
And foxhunters? Is that about 1.30m?

Also what the heck are notional winnings?

Confused.com!!!

British Novice - 90cm
Discovery - 1m
Newcomers - 1.10m
Foxhunter - 1.20m

'Notional winnings' is what goes on the horses card and 'actual winnings' is what the horse has actually won

I'm no showjumping expert but work along the lines of...Discoverey (Disc) - 1mNewcomers (NC) - 1.10mFoxhunter - 1.20m

What's the difference between notional and actual winnings? Surely if you have won money affiliated then that's what should go on its card? (I don't do sj so genuinely don't know)

If you went on actual winnings you would jump yourself out of classes a lot quicker.

Actual prize money is the amount of money taken home on the day. Notional prize money is the amount the horse/pony is graded on, is a set amount and smaller than the amount awarded. Example - Any horse that wins a British Novice can be awarded any amount of prize money on the day, the rider may win £50 for example. However, for this win a maximum of £15 will be graded as Notional winnings. The Notional amounts for each placing in each class can be found in the rule book, page 51 onwards. National classes and qualifiers only have Notional money graded when a double clear is achieved.
