I have an elderly female dog, she had an operation last year to remove a nasty cyst. Unfortunately another has grown in above where the other was removed and it's growing rapidly. Last 1 kept getting infected as she loves to roll about on the floor/grass and seems to knock it etc and this 1 is going the exact same way. So I'll probably have to make the decision depending on how this cyst goes as to wether or not she is PTS quite soon
Last time she came through the op it was really tough on her, she's 15 now, and I'm not sure if it would be a fair thing to have her go through again.
Anyway the bit I really need advice on is about getting a new dog.
my daughter who is 9, when I explained the facts about our current dog she of course doesn't want Tess to go but understood for the most part about why it would have to happen. She also said it would be easier to deal with if we had another dog before she went :/
Now Tess is great with other dogs, we have dogs staying here for holidays regularly so she's not a problem. I just wondered if it would be fair to bring another dog in, let it get used to having Tess as company, then take that away from him/her? Does it really help the grief if you have another dog there to focus on?
