hi Guys I am a normal poster But created this account so people don’t know my identity. Basically the story is my horse got kicked in the field an is gone very lame I would be lucky if I can ride my horse again because the injury is so bad . I am not looking for comparison and I do understand horses will be horses but what really annoying me is when the yard owner is very dismissive and wants nothing to do with it . Horse owner knows and is angry that I mentioned it in conversation basically in denial. I genuinely completely shooked and shocked with the attitude horse is apparently very dangerous as it known the horse kicked people. Does anyone have any have any suggestions.

I’m so sorry that this has happened. But it’s a the unfortunate side effect of being on livery - unless you have individual turnout, horses can be kicked.

Unless there is a documented history of this horse attacking others, I don’t think you have any recourse against the owner or yard owner.

I would add also that there isn't always a correlation between kicking people and kicking other horses. I had a little racer once who would happily kick people fiddling with rugs, etc, but I never saw him lift a foot to another horse.

We've got one like this. Would take a swipe at a human in temper but would never, ever, ever consider touching another horse. They are regularly used as the brakes for idiots on the gallops to sit behind.

I'm sorry for what has happened to your horse, but what do you want the YO or other livery to do? Are you just looking for them to acknowledge that the other horse did it, and possibly apologise, or for them to take action such as separating that horse from others, or do you want someone to pay in some way for the vet bills or loss of use? Obviously it's upsetting if they are being dismissive about it, but have a think about the reaction you are expecting, and how to approach that with them if you decide to do something.
