Need Help Badly!

I started uni this year and put my horse out on loan, with view to sell to a friend of a friend. Everything went well for a few months but when i next came to visit my horse despite what they had been saying they had lied and neglected her and she had very badly pulled her check ligament, she’s now back home and slowly recovering however i am too far away to look after her so a friend is, i am now really at a loss for what to do because now i’m at uni i cant work to pay for her so all my savings are slowly disappearing and cant keep asking my friend to look after a sick horse?
Has anyone got any ideas on what i could do? I love my 100% and just want what’s best for her.

Do you have a contract?
Unfortunately you don't have many options if you can't make the loaner pay...
Does or friend mind helping out? Or maybe you could ask our parents to help if the injury is only sort term?
Hope you sort it, its a tricky situation unfortunately.
 
we did have one in place, however they are saying it wasnt not their fault and the vet says you cant prove it was their fault she pulled it, so i dont know if it is worth going through the cost of leagal procedings ?
 
Full legal costs would probably be quite expensive but it's certainly worth threatening to take them to court as most people will back down if they think you're serious about it. Perhaps you could come to some agreement where they pay half the costs?
 
If the horse was injured whilst in her care then the insurance they should have had ought to cover the vets fee's incurred.
Whether its someone's fault or not, insurance should be taken out for this exact reason.
 
the insurance i have covers her. its not the recovery of the injury that bothers me so much, the vet is sure it will recover given time. its long term i am worried about for her
 
I would send them a recorded delivery letter asking them to cover half the livery costs until she is fit to be reloaned or sold.
It will cost you £60 to take them to the small claims court if needed.
 
Sorry to be negative but I doubt you'd be able to get any money off the loanee. It sounds like you terminated the loan (rightly so) and I don't think any loanee would ever pay you livery until you found another loan.

Can you not cut costs by turning her out on grass livery or is her injury preventing this?
