Need help bending...

101 schooling exercises has a section on introducing inside bend that might help, also lots of exercises with circles, serpentines etc that aim to help

Start with the size of circle your horse is comfortable on. Bend developes from suppleness and you will only get the suppleness from working on lots of circles, loops, serpentines and changes of rein.

Keep the contact on both reins, feel the inside rein to shape the front end, nudge with the inside leg to encourage horse to place weight equally on both front feet, your outside leg back to control the quarters.

Keep your hips parallel to the horses hips and your shoulders to the horses shoulders. Sit up straight on the curve - don't lean in. You may have to think stand on the outside stirrup to ensure that you sit straight.

Make sure that you don't go around the arena more than once without doing something different. Use diagonals to change the rein to allow the horse to travel straight for a few paces before changing direction - allows muscle that were on the inside of the bend to stretch again.

Lots of transitions between paces and within the pace to supple him longitudinally and help rebalance him and improve balance that will make the bend easier for him
