hi guys, I really need help buying long riding boots. I want a new pair ready for the hunting season, need to be good quality none of this tacky rubbish! They need to be comfortable and long lasting. But I have a few problems I have size 5.5 to size 6 feet. But I have short calf, which are also wide:( so I need a short wide fitting leg. What brands does anyone recommend? PLEASE HELP.

I too am looking for a new pair of long boots and want similar sizing to yours. In my search I saw a lovely pair of Broginis that had a variety of calf lengths and widths, only thing that put me off is that depending what sizes you needed you could have to wait up to 12 weeks for them! :(

Not desperately keen on my Broginis, They are the cheaper field boots, Gallipolis I think, and I was excited to get some long boots that actually fitted me. (Big feet, short skinny legs).
orderd in the hope that they'd be delivered in time for my birthday in October, they didn't arrive until nearly Christmas. If memory serves it was nearer 20 weeks.
Then, when they did finally arrive, the quality was underwhelming. The two boots were made of very different leather. one soft and baggy, one stiff and hard.
That said, they have lasted 2 years of pretty constant use, and apart from one of the badges falling off still look OK. I am fairly easy on shoes though, and try to look after them.
Sizing wise the feet on my size 8s came up a bit longer than usual and they have dropped a lot. to the point that I wish that I've gone from sore backs of knees to wishing I'd bought the longer calf length.

Over-all I don't think I'll be buying another pair.

Mountain Horse do short/wide. I have the Firenzes (not sure they still make them?) in wide (regular height). They're a tiny bit long but the short wide were too short. I put heel lift insoles in and they've done the trick. I love mine. Really comfy and look really smart. They have lots of options in terms of different models too. They're not the cheapest but you can usually find good deals on e-bay.

Thank you for all your help guys! Think I'm going to look and some mountain horse ones, and the broginis.. Need them to come before the hunting season though 🙈

Try Equitector - will do modified to measure. And also, if you're hunting, they do square top with garter strap, none of this "shaped top" dressage nonsense !

mountain horse are good for width and have different lengths but they are quite chunky...I ride in mine and do mucking out etc all winter and they are really comfy..

I know someone who has a pair of the Derby House Kinpurnie long boots, she has a short calf and loves them. She has bought a few pairs, show boots and everyday, when there has been an offer and they look really smart. I would try a pair myself but they are way too short.
