Need help finding super quiet clippers!

My boy is not a fan of clippers. I won't twitch him and sedation only works to a certain extent.

I wanted to know what the quietest brand of clippers you knew were? I would much rather leave him unclipped because of it, but, with the work he's doing - it's not an option!
We're still working on desensitising him to them, but a virtually silent or just really quiet pair will be my best option.

I'm not fussed with how long it'll take - if it takes 2 hours, it takes 2 hours!

Any ideas ?
 
Not sure if you found anything, but there are http://www.peasridge.co.uk/acatalog...5-detachable-blade-clipper-C0103.html#SID=239, I've had mine about 5 years now & do 3-4 clips a year. I needed to find something that was low vibration for my old boy who was incredibly ticklish, and struggled with the vibration of standard clippers. Now use them on the young mare, who is pretty sensitive, although she probably would be fine with ordinary clippers, but they do the job, and great for all the fiddly bits with the small clip head, so no real reason to change!!

They are basically high end dog clippers, so do take longer, but as long as your boy isn't really thick coated they should be fine. They do a wide blade option, but I found it didn't produce as nice a clip on mine, so I've tended to stick with the standard blades provided. They've a few different models, but think seem to be about the quietest available on their site at least. No cheap, but not wildly different from decent standard clippers.

Recently had then serviced, they were still working perfectly until the mare manged to stand on the cord and break it - one flaw really is the cord is not as heavy duty as standard horse clippers for the times they do managed to stand on it, but I understand they do a cordless version now! Hi, I have a set of Wahl Stable Pro clippers I'd be happy to sell if you are interested as I no longer have a horse. They are much smaller than conventional clippers so proportionately quieter and don't vibrate your hands to death either. The blade is obviously narrower but I used to do a trace clip on my 15.1hh without any problem. They buzz pretty quietly rather than clatter loudly. They work fine but have been in storage for several years so would need sharpening I expect.
 
Heinigar Xperience mains machine, very light and quiet full size machine,or the battery version, the Xplorer. Both good quiet machines. You could try something like the Liveryman Harmony, which take the snap on type blades, but I do tend to only recommend these for TB's. They will struggle on thicker coated horses and you can blunt the blades very easily. Good Luck.

I use liveryman harmony clippers, my horse was very clipper shy when I got her and I was able to do a hunter clip straight away with these. They are totally cordless too, don't even have a battery pack so really good for nervous horses.

It takes longer to do a clip than with bug clippers but they have really helped me to get my mare happy with being clipped (she is now happy to have me use full size mains clippers).

People will say they aren't heavy duty enough and that they are dog clippers with wide blades but I have managed several hunter clips a year with them.

If you want a really cheap option someone on my yard has the masterclip equivalent with the battery pack and her horse has a cob coat and feathers. She finds them slow but they get the job done, even clipping out his legs.
