Hello, I am looking for some advice or recommendation for someone in essex, I am near chelmsford who could help me by schooling my horse. He is in recovery after suspensory injury and is all but back in full work. He is sound and well at the moment which is great. The problem is he is a full up event horse and he is sharp. I have lost my confidence really and he is taking the mick a bit by being very sharp and spooky! He isnt nasty, but sharp and I do think he is being a bit naughty because he knows I am nervous. I need to keep his work going but I am not enjoying riding him at the moment. This is a fabulous horse and I have had some great times competing him, but he is a handful and extremely tallented and as I am nearly 50, I have just not got the bottle anymore.

Does anyone know anybody in the essex area that would be able to school a sharp horse for me, or anybody looking to share a horse who is experienced and not afraid of a horse with spirit??

Many thanks,

I would recommend someone like Ben Martin - he is out towards Norton Heath and has his own livery yard also.
Very good but kind rider and won't beat your horse up like some.

Alternatively there is Claire's Equestrian - she has moved but is still in the Tiptree area I believe - you could Google her.

Suffolk way there is Robbie Hague - always popular. Jonathon Aliston also - is popular - Colchester way.

Thank you Yasandcrystal. I will check some of those out. I would even consider a loan situation to the right person as I really think he just needs a confident rider to bring out the best in him. He has had a rough year with rehab and a lot of intensive schooling and he needs to get out and have some fun again. Someone beating him up is not an option as this horse deserves kindness and understanding because he is a lovely gentle spirit, but he is a little lively when ridden lol!!

Paddymonty, I may be a little too far I think lol. x

jessieblue, on what sort of basis are you looking for help. Do you want your horse to go to someone for a period of time, or are you looking to take your horse to them/they come to you on a regular basis. My instructor is very close to you, she has a small string of very talented eventers including several stallions and is a super sensitive experienced rider and all round excellent horsewoman.

Hi Dreckly and thanks for your reply. I dont really know exactly what I want really. I dont really want to send him away as he spent all last summer in a rehab facility (not really rehabbed tho) and I dont want to uproot him again. Ideally someone to come out to school him and to see if they think there is a way forward for us together or not. Its a shame I dont have the confidence to deal with him myself anymore but I am just not as brave as I used to be. This horse really needs a sensitive but strong rider. He is all horse 17hh big upstanding boy with the kindest temprement. I dont want to spend a fortune as I have spent a lot of money getting him this far. I dont want to give up because I think this horse has real potential, but have kind of hit a brick wall. Could you let me have your instructors name please and does she come out or would i need to send him to her?
