Hi all prretty new at this so stay with me,
i have just been given a 12hh pony from a friend to bring on a bit to sell, i was looking into doing lead rein with him as i think he could scrub up well and i have a small enough jocky that could be used only problem is i have no idea how to turn him out or the ridere/handler he is a dartmoor pony and i will try to attach pictures. it would just be local levels to get the pony out and about and happy arround these situations before i would even think about selling hm as a childs pony.
thanks any help?
Needs a bit cleaned up but this is him

He's really sweet! I persume though he is a dartmoor hill pony rather than a pure bred dartmoor?

At local level the real thing is to make sure you a turned out neatly and smartly. Don't quite need to go down the pretty ponies matching outfits yet! So basically tweed jackets, either a nice skirt for you or if you must smart trousers. Ideally the handler should wear a nice hat. The easiest way to get ideas what to wear is to go to some pro photographers sites and look at what others wear.

You will leave him natural if you show him as a m&m, some LR classes will lump all the ponies in together others will split by type.

Good luck

You won't be able to show him natural as he is not an M and M, i.e. he isn't one of our native breeds. This means you'll be competing against the "pretty ponies" brigade but at local level, who cares, just go and have fun. he'll need tidy plaits in mane and tail tho...

Basic turnout:

Pony

Plain brown bridle with pretty browband if you want
Plain brown saddle, pref straight cut, but again at local level not so important
Brown numnah, as small as poss so very little overlap from edge of saddle
Brown, black or white girth
NO boots etc

Rider

Cream/ canary jods
Jodphur boots
Jodphur boot straps
Navy jacket and navy hat, or black and black
Hair up in a net, with pretty coloured scrunchie if you want
Stock or tie depending on jacket
Coloured waistcoat if you want

Handler

Either as for inhand showing, so plain trousers, hacking jacket, tie and shirt with sensible short boots
OR the fancy navy etc jacket and skirt outfit with fancy hat - prob overkill at local level/

As per other posts look at some pro pics in H and H etc
