Just wondered if anyone else has a horse that does this? Basically my mare has her flymask on because of lots of flies. But every so often she starts to go mad runs around field etc, so I take the flymask off incase any are stuck under but she continues to nod head

So I stay there ad stroke her head neck etc to try to get her to calm down :( sometimes it works but today it didn't and she ended up whacking me in the boob :(
I'm not sure if it is flies that bug her or something wrong with her ears? head?
Anybody else had this issue? Have only ever noticed it during summer.

Thanks for any help :)

Just had a quick look while she was eating tea, couldn't see much but was too dark right down in, so will see if she will let me look with a head light on tomorrow :)
Sometimes she will let me touch her ears and put fingers inside other times she won't
Also she shakes her head as in side to side more the ears than anything so will definetely have a good look tomorrow :)
Thanks

Aural Plaques? Have a look inside the ears when you have better light and see if it looks anything like this.

They can bother some horses. My horse has them but luckily is not bothered by them. Apparently they do get worse in fly season.
