Have just stepped on a particularly vicious bramble and my wellies are leaking gently as I walk. They are rubbish for riding in anyway. My beloved Ariats stopped being waterproof a good year ago but are still fine otherwise, so I just need a wet weather boot. Don't want to spend too much as will probably ask my dad for new Ariats for Christmas. Any ideas what to get?

Have you tried re-waterproofing them with some waterproofing spray?

Failing that, country boots would be my go to if you don't mind riding in them. Something like the Toggi Calgary could be a good midway point. They are really comfy and are sturdy enough to stand up to yard work in my experience.

Do you want to also be able to ride in your boots?? Coz if so then that'll narrow the field..........

But if you don't want to ride in them, TBH I'd look for the plain bog-standard farmers ones which you can get at any agricultural outlet, cheap and cheerful.

For riding as well as yard work, once upon a time I'd have recommended Muck Boots and/or Hunter: but in recent years the quality of both brands has been total rubbish and they just don't last anything like they used to.

Sorry not much help really!

Been there! Last year I tried all sorts from Grubbs, muck boots to cheaper ones and all only last couple of months. I wear them from 7am til 7pm so are used a lot. At the end of winter, I bought a pair of green Dunlop wellies for £6.49 off Amazon. Wear them every day and still going strong. Will buy another pair only this time I will put insoles in them for a bit of padding. Definitely not wasting my money on other boots now.

I got some requiste rubber ridding boots last year. Waterproof, hose mud off and ok to ride in. Suited me as no changing boots in a rush or ruining good ones.
