I would love to take my Grand daughter for a really nice safe hack. There are only a couple of hacks near us but I would like to box somewhere and have a really lovely ride. I could look up bridleways on OSM but I think I could find better info on here.Thinking of an hours ride. I could get the box to pick us up at the end. I have been driving round Oakham to Leics today and it seemed lovely. We live near the NEC and was thinking up to an hours drive. Would love some great views. Any ideas

Sutton Park is lovely, really really big, great fields and woods to ride in :D Not sure how far it is from the NEC but I live 20 minutes from the NEC and can get to Sutton Park in 10 :)

I second Sutton Park - it is 2400 acres of a variety of heath, fields, woods, lakes etc

I am very local and have taken Chico there in the trailer - always had a lovely ride and there are several different areas to explore :D

We used to go to Sutton Park a lot but last time we went there was a horrible gate to open each end of a railway bridge and I was terrified that a train would come and I was told there were loose ponies in there that can cause trouble. Shame as I used to love it.

It's not very imaginative but haywoods near to swallowfield equestrian is lovely :) room to park trailer/lorry and a nice safe hack around the woods. Can make it as long/short as you want :)

that is only one small corner of the park - i hack in all the rest of it - you should go again, seems a shame not to enjoy it because of that reason - no gates or ponies in about 4/5th of the park :D

Yes you can definitely ride around Bradgate - if I remember rightly there are bridle paths you have to stick to. There seems to be lots of bridle ways around that area, plenty of circular routes. Parking is good at Bradgate too, lots of room for a box/trailer:)

Burbage Common is nice for hacking and have parking space for boxes.

Hay Wood is lovely. How about Packington Estate just off the A45 near you, you need to apply for a permit but it is lovely.

Correct me someone please, I have heard the train run through Sutton park in the early hours of the morning when staying nearby. Its a beautiful place with cafe and restaurants, and a herd of ponies for conservation purposes, good luck, I think its a lovely idea.

We sometimes box up and do part of the penine bridleway. The parking at Hartington station is great for horses and you can ride the tissington trail.

I must be local to you OP, we are also very close to NEC.

As for hacking, I dont tend to venture very far afield but how about Kingsbury water park for a nice half day ride out.
