Need my horse backing, who should i send him to?

Can anyone tell me who i should send my horse to for backing in the north west area please and your experiences?
He is a 16:2 4 year old arab, pretty wild and nervous! Thanks :o)
 
Can't suggest any names. But a more definite idea of location may get you more suggestions.

Personally I'd always back at home.
 
You don't get many 16.2 4 year old Arabs to the pound, that is sure. Why is he so wild and nervous? Have you not handled him?
 
I'd definitely go for word of mouth on something like this...you cant beat a good testimonial, and first hand experience of someone's style and approach.

I am in Widnes near Liverpool and i bought him from the field a few months back and just left him turned out as i have been really busy, he is such a handsome boy and very special just wish i had got him done during the summer!
 
I bought my arab through Tina Bennett who backed him. She must do a good job because he's awesome. :) She's in North Yorkshire and specializes in arabs.
 
Tina Bennett looks like a good person to send him to, just looking at her website now. Any others?
I am going to do some parelli work with him starting tomorrow :o)
 
We get unhandled youngsters here all the time. (I'm in Ireland so no drumming for business). They aren't that bad. I actually prefer them to badly handled or spoiled. But we do spend the first 3 weeks getting the unhandled ones on a routine. I'm talking they don't even know how to lead. So if you have someone who thinks in 4 weeks horse should be riding school quiet after 4 years of nothing, I usually won't take them. By all means it can be done, but I personally don't think it's in the best interest in the horse.

My advice is to just send to who you're going to send to and let them deal with all of it. The H&H people usually have good recommendations. So no need to worry about where he's going. It's much easier to start with a blank state. Any good young horse starter isn't going to judge you for what hasn't been done. Healthy horse is well looked after.

I had a young horse come in that had been parelli trained as a 2 yr old.

It was dangerous, rude and ruined, it feared nothing and was a tragic waste of a young horse. I can only comment from what I have experienced but I think parelli breaking methods are perhaps, not in the best interest of the horse.
