Subject to vetting I have bought a new horse, vetting on Friday.. however he is currently called Harvey... there is already a Harvey at the yard I am at! He is passported as 'something (some prefix) Finnigan' but not sure if I like the name!

He is 15.2hh tricolour irish x gelding, rising 8 apparently but think he is a bit younger, will try and get a picture up.

Would like something classy, my sister likes 'Tosca' but know this would end up as '******' ! so maybe something a bit more irish? or anything classically musical as we are a musical family so that would suit :)

ideas please! picture to follow

Crotchet
Quaver
Minim
Harmony
Tempo

Sorry - that was a quick effort before I bu*ger off to bed. Will have a think....

Quite like Crotchet though!

Ok hope this works as facebook playing up! Here is the picture of me on him !

for some reason he was on the bottom ring of the gag :s, I asked to put it on the snaffle ring with the flash off and he was no different!

Needs a bit of meat putting on him

Oh, I can see why you want something classy! :D I'd be going through opera characters in addition to Tosca if I were you. Or composers.

I remember reading a book when I was younger and the horses in it were called

Symphony

Serenade

Solo

Can't remember the book but the names have stuck in my mind :o

I like Allegro, think I named my coloured model horse that when I was about 9 ! just realised I already know a Finnley, vetting is tomorrow , I'm hoping he will be at his new home by the weekend. I hope my mare takes to him as she does like to put the other horses in their place! Still listing lots of names down,

Yes he is a pretty boy :) just needs some weight on as he is a bit ribby! think he will chunk out a fair bit with some food and regular exercise. His mane and tail are phenomenally thick ! not looking forward to keeping that tangle free!

Vetting at 2 :30 today :) At the moment the name has not progressed further than Finnegan so I assume he will be a Finn, even though I am still not keen on the name! Me and my sister can't agree on anything haha- got a few hours to mull it over. If he is a Tosca it will end up as Ozzy :p I'm getting all nervous now !

Good luck with the vetting.

What about Flynn?

My fave horse when I learned to ride hundreds of years ago was a flash Welsh called Mr Flynn. Very nice!!

BTW Spiritedly the book you are thinking of with Serenade and Symphony was one of the Pullein Thompson ones, the ones about the Radley Riding Club, think one at least was Noel's pony (Noel was always full of self doubt and always 'had the needle' before any scary events, unlike Henry who just strode around confidently) :-)))

I like the name Finley but already know a Finley !

New one I've thought of is Oberon- which would be Obi for short, I like the classical shakespeare origin, it is a King so links to the jubilee and also from Midsummer Nights Dream (my other mare is called Summer!)

2 hours to go until vetting..

What's wrong with having 2 Harvey's on a yard? I don't like changing horses names :( hope he passes the vetting though, he's a nice looking lad. My boy is a Harvey too

Nothing really but there is only going to be 3 horses at the yard so the names are a little less diluted between them :p
