I need some decent, hardwearing jodhs. I'm only a weekend rider, don't own/share a horse but all my jodhs develop holes in them after a couple of wears....this can't be right, surely! I don't want to spend more than £25 ideally, but I don't know what brand to go for for a decent pair.

sounds daft, but are you wearing the right size (not squeezing into smaller ones)

Through my teens my favourite jods got holes in them, basically cos i was expanding out of them :o

how can they get holes so quickly? I have jods that i have had for years that don't have holes. I love my caldene ones, they were in a sale. I just got a lovely pair of equetech denim ones reduced from £65 to £20, result :D
I would say to go for the best you can afford, you will get good quality ones on 'equestrian clearance' reduced to around £25 no problem.

^exactly.

my crappy "horse fair" bought ones lasted years (i mean every weekend, several evenings a week and all the summer/half term holidays) but suddenly went when i grew :(

i still wear them occasionally, bit breezy though lol

I have no idea why they're getting holey, I bought requisite ones from robinsons - maybe I'm washing them too often or too high or something. I might have exaggerated a bit about how loong they last but I don't exactly get a lot of wear out of them! I'm definately wearing the right size too. Thanks for that I'll take a shufty

Dublin, Harry Hall, Loveson, Caldene etc....I'm currently wearing some Toggi Fenton ones everyday and love them...about £24. Take a look at tack shop sales/ebay....see if you can get any deals on good quality jods.

I have just bought some Musto breeches, they are black and have black suede knee patches on them with "m" embroidered on each knee patch and in a jeans stlye. Admittedly i have only worn them about 7 times....but they are amazingly comfy and fit brilliantly. They were £60 reduced to £23 at a horse fair.

Failing that i am trying to remember the make of my "old faithfulls" and when i say old im not kidding. I got them when i was about 11 or 12. Im 24 now and have used them pretty much daily all of that time. They were second hand when i got them!! They have only recently showed signs of getting older and most of that is my fault....catching them on things etc.
Just remembered the make.....they are "Phoenix" ones.

Equetech all the way for me, they range from the very cheep to expensive, but even the cheeper prima jods they do are thick cotton and really hard wearing. I'm on my horse everyday and they survive anything.

Ive currently got a pair of cheap jods but I always have to pull them up at the crotch is this normal? but I had a pair of Dublin Supafits that I kept having to pull up.

My requisite ones are the same and I'm now Jod hunting. I've had them the same amount of time as my Harry Halls and those ones are still going. Could be the make? I'm going for another pair of Harry Halls I think...

Ebay!!! Put in the size you're looking for and pick from the millions that come up!

I love the shires saddlehuggers ones: thick, strong soft cotton and decent fit. They come up a generous size too, so don't end up too tight. I bought my current pair for £6 :D
