It began at 7am this morning going down to pitch in at the local equine hospital. I get there to find i've been drafted in as there are no other yard staff available, i dont work there i just know one of the vets so i get led into the yard and told to get on with it.
8 very very ill horses to do on my own, including having to search for everything as having no idea where things are kept, re shaping a mammoth muck heap on my own, and clearing up a mess that someone had left from yesterday.
Needless to say after 5 hours i was shattered, i get home to do my own 3 stables and clear up the usual mess, and then collapse and fall asleep on the sofa.
Im woken up to a frantic knock at the door telling me there are horses loose on the road would i help the catch them.
My heart stops when i see my mare charging down the road followed by my gelding!!
They go charging across a set off cross roads and out of sight...im on the verge of tears!
After a lovely neighbour helps me catch them and ive washed the blood off my mare's leg, i get back into the house when an owner calls me to tell me she has sold a horse from underneath me. My dream horse, in a few years the potential burghley horse, the once in a life time cant believe this horse is mine to compete horse, he's gone.
I honestly thought this was it, the chance to get somewhere at long last with a superstar horse, a horse i could never afford to have of my own.
What a shocking day, and its back to that hospital tomorrow!!
