Need some help with naming my new puppy!!

As the title suggests

For a little German Shepherd girl.

I am looking for something unusual, something different but something which has a meaning to it as well.

Not too hard is it lol

Has anyone any suggestions?

What about Hettie, Hexe (pronounced Hexi) Lucie, Bella, Gretel? They were all names of some of the foundation bitches in the breed in Germany.

Fee was one of the first imported German bitches in the UK. She was also called Bell, so Belle or Bella would be nice
One of the very early kennels was called Ceara (you could pronounce that a number of ways )
Cilla, Seffe and Frieda were other early imports

Since naming my dog I've met others called Dax, Dex, Dexie and similar. My German family had a GSD called Gaila which I quite like. Erm... Adele? Ella, Lydia (Lud-ya for that authentic Germanic experience ), Imke, Dasch.

Dexy is a quite superb name but no one else is allowed to use it. EVER!!

The bitch that won at the 2 Day last week is called Biene (pronounced Beenie/Beena depending on your accent) which I think is very cute

Oh and your username is lightning, Blitz is obviously German for lightning, if you think that its too masculine you could change it to Litzi or something

Blondie just doesn't quite inspire evil as much as Bella, clearly.

Now I want a male GSD called Blitzkrieg, thanks for putting that idea into my head.

Scrapping German, how about Briga, Breaca, Graine (Gron-ya), Camma, Cygfa, Bronwen, Airmid, Brigid or Macha in a Celtic/Gaelic vein.

I think Hera is an awesome name, we've also had a Juno if you want to go down that road.


It doesn't really matter as all you will call them is nicknames anyway.

My German Pointer's are called Pia and Eva . Their kennel names were Martina and Marna which I wasn't overly keen on .
