Horse - plain brown bridle - no bling, plain flat cavesson, flash or grakle allowed. Running martingale or breastplate. Boots for the jumping phase. Plain brown saddle - reasonably straight cut (in a perfect world) to show off the horse's shoulder), dark girth, plain brown or black numnah to fit under the saddle (no saddlecloths). Big enough saddle and stirrup irons to allow the judge to ride and long enough leathers.
Rider - cream or buff breeches, hacking jacket, correctly tied stock or shirt/tie. Gloves, showing cane, hairnet and hat with chinstrap for jumping. Long black boots and (to be correct) spurs - can be blind ones if you really don't need them.

Hope this helps - enjoy!

horse - plain tack pref. brown, any bit but avoid anything too fangled i.e combinations put some judges off, boots may be worn for jumping but MUST be removed for comformation phase,

rider - tweed jacket, shirt and tie, beige, fawn or canary breeches (never white) long boots on adults please, and spurs are permissable.

you have to go into the ring and jump a course of rustic fences, this should be at hunting pace NOT a showjumping canter. If you go clear you will be brought back into the ring to do an individual show and a comformation strip and trot up (depending on level of show) why not watch a few classes first??

At local level and for a first try I don't think anyone would complain if you wore a black or navy jacket rather than tweed as long as you are smart. I'm sure I did working hunter as a kid in a black jacket as I had to borrow and there wasn't a tweed to fit me!
