Right.. this could be long :-/ So i have been struggling with transport and have started saving to be able to fund some transport! But my options are;

--> Save up around 3 thousand for a 3.5t lorry. Meaning extra tax and insurance/mot and potential problems due to the age i can afford. But i do not have to take my trailer test which will be around £600

--> Use what i have to take my trailer test now. Save up for a decent ifor williams and hire untill i can find a decent trailer, but now for the 4x4 dilema.

I have just got a 207 on finance as my old car was costing so much! this car is cheap tax (£90 a year) cheap insurance and cheap on fuel. Do i speak to the company i had it from and see if i can swap it for a 4x4, i have only had it a few months but have put 2 thousand miles on it already so i could potentially loose money on it!

--> Do i keep it (207) and buy a cheap disco (say £1500) and use this for towing and yard and keep the 207 for commuting to work. My insurance on 4x4's arnt cheap due to being under 25. It can be anything upto £1000 a year!! but then i have 2 lots of mot,tax and insurance again..

--> or do i speak to my mother and see if she would like to share my 207 and i get a cheap 4x4. I would like to think this option is the most easiest but i cant see mum complying. her corsa is getting old now and costing her money but non of us can get her to part with it. She isnt the most confident of drivers and doesnt like change.

sorry its ended up so long but i am in abit of a muddle!! and desperate to get something sorted. Thoughts much appreciated!
sorry for the bad grammer or typos!

Wow, what a dilemma....

Don't think the swap a 207 for a 4x4 option is feasible - i had a brand new Astra a few years ago which really hurt my back and so swapped to another car after 6 months and they couldn't do a straight swap because of the car's depreciation :( I ended up taking out a new loan to cover the cost of the new car + interest + the interest that was payable on the finance of the Astra :mad:

I have a lovely car now, but ended up paying an extra £3k for it :( :mad: :(

i think they will rip me off tbh.. the 207 is worth 7 thousand but as i have taken it out and put miles on it they will no doubt say it is only worth 5! i think maybe i will text mother and see what she says..

I did my trailer test which cost me about £700 and bought a 3k trailer and a
6k jeep total £9,700 before I insured both at £125 per month plus tax, insurance, diesel etc etc I had that combo for about 4 years but hated driving the trailer and after a friends horse got killed in one a few months ago I decided to get rid of it.
So I bought a much more expensive 3.5t lorry which I had to have 02+reg because of low emmissions but it only costs £25per month insurance and Im happy to drive about in it and therefore go out more because Im not nervous.
Having had both for me there is no competition and I would never have a trailer & 4x4 again, the cost after all things are considered is better for me with the lorry.

i have text my mum as she is at work so she can think about it before she comes home, and that way she wont have her other half putting things in her head.

Lsat year, I was toying with the idea of little lorry and run around car or keeping my 4x4 and getting a new trailer - unfortunately I had my sensible head on. I couldn't justify 2 vehicles, one of which (the lorry) going out once/twice a fortnight, also to get a sensible priced lorry meant a knackered one, even the oneson a very high mileage van are expebsive

Are you transporting just one horse? How heavy is it? You might get away with a large car not necessarily a 4x4 if its one lightweight horse. Might be a cheaper solution.

well iv got two large horses but im not sure how often i would be towing both of them. I have however just been out and bought a disco :-0 there was one for sale a few miles away that was to good to miss. extremely well looked after! my mums partner is happy to tow with it and he is also happy to show me the ropes and acompany me :-) so looks like i am sorted! i am just going to hire a trailer if there is anywhere i am desperate to go to untill i have found a trailer.
