I broke my leather gaiters at competition the other weekend :-(

The elastic has come away from the leather at the back and it's fraying, so not something I can just get stitched, it needs new elastic.

I've contacted the manufacturer, but they haven't responded at all. They are a couple of years old, so out of warranty anyway, but I would like to get them fixed if possible.

I went to a local cobbler type shop and they said they could fix it possibly but it would be about £35 ish which seems a lot, they weren't expensive gaiters to start off with and if one's gone I reckon the other one will soon, so any thoughts on where I could go to get them fixed? I don't mind spending say £20ish, or do I cut my losses and buy a new pair?

Thanks

What make are they?

Mine are tredstep and the zip broke on mine, I sent them back to them and they fixed them I think it was about £15. This was about 3 years ago and they are both still going strong!

Have you tried a different cobblers? One in town quoted a ridiculous amount for fixing the zips on mine, so mum took them elsewhere where they did it a lot cheaper :) Only thing was she didn't specifiy for black zips, so now I have blingy silver-backed gaiters!

Hi, I take all my horse repairs to the local cobbler in my local village. I think it is a Timpsons or something like that. It is amazing what they can repair!!! :)
