My sort of adopted coblet has colic, vet is saying it's looking bad and he's not the type to be pessimistic :(

His guts are empty he's trying to eat but not able to swallow much which makes me think it might be more than just colic. He's a fairly old man, at least 18.

Horse isn't mine but I love him like one of my own.

Bah to colic :(

Some vibes for Billy would be greatly appreciated.

Oh no...lots of vibes for Billy. The vet being pessimistic doesn't have to mean any more than it is colic and he is preparing you.

Keep thinking positively, especially around Billy and I'll keep the vibes coming xx

All my fingers are crossed for you OP. My old share horse came down with it this time last year, it was horrible even though like you he wasn't mine. It doesn't make any difference. Lots of vibes for Billy xx

Check with vet not atrophy myopathy sometimes they overlook this, sounds like paralysis of some vital organ which is one of the symptoms of AM. Hope he recovers

Thank you all so much.

I'm sorry to say he didn't make it, by the time the vet came back up his heart rate was up past 100. In the vets word there was something catastrophic going on which there would be no going back from :(

He went with dignity and no fuss, just seems very surreal now. The yard seems much emptier without him in the field.

Run free Billy, you were a proper dude who always put a smile on my face and everyone else's who looked after you. The world needs more like you.
