Bit of a random reason why but my friend very kindly gets my dog food for me as she works at the local feed merchant and gets a seriously good discount. Turns out that for some reason they are no longer going to sell Royal Canin which is what Ruby currently eats so I'm basically looking to put her on something else. What do you lot feed? I like a good quality one where you don't have to feed as much etc etc. I know I could just buy from else where as do like the stuff but seems daft to miss the saving money opportunity!

I use chudleys, its made by dodson and horell.

My dog is happy with it, and you dont need a lot. Plus i get it from my local feed merchant so you should be able to get it.

Think its a bit cheaper than Royal canin too.

I feed Skinners Field & Trial Duck & rice, its wheat free and my dogs do relaly well on it. Evie was fed it throughout her pregnancy and feeding her pups and she looked a picture of health, in fact if anything she came off the ltiter overweight.:p:p

I also use the skinners field and trial duck and rice and Arden grange (lamb and rice), I find it the dog is not a good doer naturally the Arden grange is very good for feeding less quantity but maintaining weight than the skinners hence why I use both as some of mine lose weight on the skinners.
Other quality food
fish4dogs
Applaws

Another vote for Skinners Duck and Rice :D Good for sensitive tummies, lots of oil for shiny coats, Boots i slooking fab on it and he isn't a loony either :D

I feed Arden Grange and recently reared a litter on it too and was very impressed. One of the key factors in its favour for me and my dogs is that the range includes meat not just dry.

For the record, a lot of puppies are reared on RC and arrive at their new homes as RC eaters. RC have an extensive breeder reward programme which is part of the reason why it's so popular.

If you call the customer care lines of the foods you're interested in and tell them all about your dog and the food you currently feed I'm sure that you'll find them to be very helpful.

And in the great tradition of AAD, I shall now wax lyrical about the benefits of feeding a raw diet :D

Three of mine are on raw and look absolutely fantastic, it is MUCH cheaper than all-in-one and is dead easy to feed :) Waste production is minimal, all three dogs have excellent teeth (often not the case with greyhounds), their coats are shining and glossy, and they maintain just the right weight without any concious management on my part.

My oldest girl has (literally) no teeth left so cannot manage the bones element of a raw diet, so she is on Skinners Field & Trial Duck & Rice :)

And when Cayla\'s Pingu comes to live with me, she will be fed raw too :D :D :D (Cayla doesnt know that Pingu is coming to me yet :p)

Thanks everyone :) will certainly look into Skinners Field & Trial Duck & rice as seems to be popular! Have thought about RAW but only having a tiny freezer compartment means I think I would end up having to do lots of trips to keep stocked up! She's very active and currently lean and fit which I would rather as nothing worse than an overweight basset!

having recently been introduced to chicken necks and carcasses I am converted :) I am lucky as the Scruples rescue lady is fairly close so i can buy from her, rather than having to buy in massive bulk. I pay 75p a kilo and a kilo lasts Flodden about 4 days. He looks fantastic now, has put on weight and condition. Very little poo, and does not drink much. Will not go back to complete food now as he would not eat enough to put on weight. if I have to feed a dog complete I use the Barking Heads range, as good quality food, and a high meat ratio.

I feed fish4dogs, even my fussies eat it and they all look fab on it ranging from 4 months to 12 years I have feed skinners but found it really difficult to keep the weight on my running dogs and don't know how suitable rice is in a dogs diet? ( they do also have raw marrow bones 3-4 times a week) not the babies! X

I'm about to move my Dobe pup onto Applaws as it has a really high meat content (75% chicken) and cereal free - not as good as Taste of the Wild or Orijen maybe, but I cant afford those prices!! Plus Petplanet.co.uk have it half price at the moment so I've stocked up!

They are also doing 30 wellbeloved puppy pouches for the price of 20 so I have got those as well to mix in as he likes a bit of meat.

All the big brands like Scienceplan and Royal Cannin are full of crap from what I can tell!!
