Since today roads were frozen clipped lil'bill but I think I need to go a bit lower on his hinds - I do the hand breath up from hocks but does the line need to be steeper to the stifle?

(Ps. He is now actually built slightly uphill, have finally worked out that the white on whither is optical illusion!)

He is now nearly 3 full weeks in, and I think looks not too bad after being off 8 weeks, although he was very fit before he went out. What do you think of his condition?
For those who don't know him he's a 6 year old ISH :)

Oh, and playing afterwards!

Since no one else has replied.....!! I can see where you think you should have gone steeper to the stifle, and I probably would have, especially as you have clipped fairly low on the front legs, but at the end of the day, your horse will be cooler and it doesn't really matter!!!!

He looks very smart :-)

I think it would look better a bit steeper, you can just about see a 'groove' a couple of inches under where you've already clipped? I'd do it from there :) But I'm no expert!

I think he looks very good, love the last picture :)

You should follow the line of the muscle - so a little lower behind and a bit higher in front - too late for that now!

Thanks guys :)

I always clip that way in front, as is my hands breath down from elbow :)
I see the groove you mean, will take some more off tomorrow.

He was incredibly easy to clip - did his face under elbows etc on my own! :)

Can't really offer advice on clipping as I haven't clipped mine and don't know much about it but he is gorgeous!!! I want!

I was always told to follow the muscle line, guess it's hidden more then and 'join' not so noticeable, plus creates a more pleasing picture.
Isn't it lovely to have a horse you can clip on your own. Thankfully both my new mares were good, better than being squashed to death like with last ned!

I've not heard the hands width thing! Always been told to follow muscle line.

Hinds poss a little steeper but i've done mine like yours this year as they aren't going to shows this side of xmas and i may take their legs off next time i clip anyway
