I, unfortunately due to a change of job and a huge pay cut (I had no choice in) I'm having to sell my horse.

He's only 2 years old so I haven't done much with him. But he has a brilliant temperament, nice and easy going, comes to call in the field and does everything you would expect. Leads, stands, ties up, picks feet up etc also goes for walks in a bridle and roller. Loves attention and is a very trusting horse. (will make 16.2hh approx & is a 1/2 TB 1/4 Hackney 1/4 ID with a SHB passport)

However the youngster market is vast do you think £2000 is over priced for this one? I was told I shouldn't expect any more than £600.

I think if you let him go for £600 you'd be bonkers! Dont listen to whoever told you that; I'd say you would be looking at between £1200 and £1500; he sounds a lovely, kind sort - obviously he is very young, but it sounds like you've done lots of groundwork with him, which can only be a good thing for when the time comes to break him in!

He's very handsome, too; I'm sorry you're going to have to part with him.

I've been looking at youngsters for sale and to be honest although hes worth more than £600 the market this year is incredibly slow- to the point where horses are being thrown at me (i put a wanted ad up on a horse sales website and have had 89 emails and calls over the last 10 days!) so depending on his confo I would say somewhere between £1000 and £1500, but if you need to sell quickly then £800- £1200

I should start at 2000, the trouble is people always want stuff with good breeding, but he looks a good strong sort which should make a nice hunter eventually.

In todays market I think £2000 may be a little ambitious, but cetainl worth more than a mere £600

deffo more than 600, ive been looking at youngsters myself recently and id say bout 1000?

but im no expert at all.

i noticed your from newcastle, im from durham and the market always seems to be alot slower up here (in my experience). youngsters do tend to go for alot less up here. dont be put off and advertise nationally to get the higher price.

hope that wasnt a total ramble
xx

Thats true I don't normally see youngsters for sale up here apart from cobs. I've put him on some national websites for £1500 to see what sort of response I get with that.

Oh he is just the sort of thing Ill be after in about 18 months - sadly at the moment I can't take on another horse (and I'm desperate since losing my tb). What a shame! And local too.
I hope you find a lovely home for him though. He is definitely worth more than £600 and I'd pay £1500 happily if this were in the future (if that makes sense).

in todays market 2k IS a little ambitious....

try £1895 ono...and be prepared to take as little as £1500

And agree about the advertising nationally, I went to North Yorkshire to buy my horse as you get a lot more for your money up your way than you do here, near London.

Edited to add...and its tragic that a nice looking young horse like that isn't selling for £2k, it would have cost more than that to have him bred and fed and so on to that age, without any time and effort charged.
