Need to serve papers but don't have a postal address! Help.

Does anybody know the best way to trace someone's postal address please?

I want to send court papers (small claims court) but I don't have a postal address. All I have is their name and a mobile phone no. Never had a landline no for them and they will not give me a postal address.

What can I do? How do you trace someone who doesn't want to be traced?

Can you not look up the voters register?

Not sure how you'd go about this though.

Have you tried putting the mobile phone number into Google? You may find that they have put something else on the internet with their mobile number & that may give you some information as to their address/whereabouts.

QR - I'm hoping that it's not TOO easy as my daughter's ex has been making threatening phone calls telling me he is going to sue ME for rent for his flat for the next month. Currently he hasn't got my address . . . .

you can apply to the court for either service in a newspaper or on the walls of court (but this is usually only for people that cant be traced)
You can also effect service at a place of work if you knew where that was.

myhorsefred, if all else fails, service of papers at the last known address is usually taken as service, just be sure to inform the court of this in your paperwork bundle when you submit it

MotherHen, I have no address at all for this lady. Just a mobile no. She wanted the money for the horse paid directly into her bank account, rather than me posting her a chq. I'm stuck, and I think she knows it.

Its a long shot but try the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry at St. Katherines House - there is an online service as well, if its worth a few quid then get a private detective to ring them up and try and find out where they are, these guys have lots of people who can blag anything.
