A pointless tongue in cheek post so dont all jump on me for being rubbish!

Today I fell off for the second time this week, off a pony thats not mine!! Diffrent ponies I would like to add :rolleyes:.

First one I got jumped off JFTD's jump jet fergie, completly my fault :o, he has real power in his back end.

Then today I got ejected off an opinionated dartmoor . The monkey has learned that spinning in to the corner means he can deposit his small jockey and then he doesnt have to canter round in circles which he finds very hard. Well he did this once and I stayed on 1:0 to me or so I thought  pony given a sharp reminder, back in canter and off we go again. Well the next one he then did it much more sharply and as I was off balance he added a buck to make sure he got me this time ! Well he did so 1:1 and he aimed me at the fence. Back on the monkey and what was going to be our last canter then had to be repeated several times, pony cantered and spinning avoided 2:1 I think.....just :o. Then plenty of work on getting him bending round a circle as thats why he is able to do it as he isnt staight but over correct and he will get very upset about it so a bit gently as he does find it very hard so we finished on some lovely trot and went past the open school gate a few times (another of his favourite tricks).

Plan is next session to get the leg yield going properly, it was only his first attempt today, which he picked up very quickly and get control of the shoulders that I had at the end earlier on. No I'm not expecting great results instantly hes an 8 year old pony thats been ridden by an 8 year old girl since they were both 4, so hasnt really had to work correctly but is brilliant out hacking for her and when it matters, has given her a fantastic seat and she has just learned to canter in company on him (thanks to yellow pony being her controllable company :D).

Any way any spare superglue jods you have hanging round would be greatly appreciated :p and some iburofen please as I havnt ridden the yellow pony yet and he was a vile child when I last sat on him.

Seriously though any useful tips for staying on a pony that your rather tall on and has a saddle thats about 14/15'' would be greatly apreciated as there isnt much infront of you when he decides to go a diffrent way to you.

I so know where you're coming from. I don't come off that easily, but when I do its always a few together. I've been there with the ponies & no neck problem too. I find unless i'm jumping & my legs would have the pole down, its easier either no stirrups or bareback. Most of my height is legs so I actually look ok on small ponies with very short stirrups but it doesn't help with balance when they're short necked & misbehaving so I just kick my feet free & sit up. I have no pride tho, once rode a 12h pony in a safari cub, with my feet to its knees when it was being evil to its 6yr old owner!

Neckstrap? Al used to pony squish and that was her go to when pony tried out new tactics...

We want photos of the cute pony (and falls... :P)

Sorry lolo can't do photos of dafthoss parting company with Fergs as my camera was being a tit, but I would be very surprised if it hadn't been partly to do with the incompatibility between dh and my saddle :o Knee blocks in completely the wrong place

Dunno what to say about the little one :D They're the worst to sit, so sharp... Good luck with that :p

Flash strap/spur strap/bit of baler twine attached to the D rins? Nice to have soemthing to grab and lean back on when there's nothing in front of you!

I only fell of 3 times last year and 2 of them me and the pony went down. I think clinging on makes it worse but I'm to determined to let him get away with it :o. Fingers crossed thats me done for a little while then. I might take my stirupps next time and see if riding longer helps.

Pride I have photographic evidence of me jumping an 11.2 welshie on my facebook :p.

I think a neck strap will be added for next week . I only have some old photos of him I'll try get some ridden ones, he is very cute and will be great fun once he has worked through the 'I find this hard I'm not going to do it  I dare you to tell me again'.

You might catch us out competing some time as the plan is that I'm going to get him a bit easier to jump so that both the children can then take him out, watchout for a small black pony built like a tank :D.

Ha yep sorry no photos you can hear JFTD's mums reaction which is quite funny before you just see fergs on his own on the video. Saddle didnt help but it cant be blamed entireley, still anoyed about that woman .

Its the no pony to catch you and a saddle that doesnt help you at all combined with a cleaver little brain, but he is going to be fun :D.

He has one of those :o its just not in the right place when your trying hard to stop him doing a 180 spin and need some rein contact. Going to go for a neck strap and possibly a breastplate so it doesnt move if I take a handful.

In the same boat as you!
Ned had me off twice from doing sharp spins!!
The first I think I could have sat, but he fell when he turned, so I went splat with him!
Second time, he decided he didn't fancy jumping that jump again...apparently I landed on a block :S I don't remember, but apparently I told my mother when she arrived a few mins later.

Hope your not too sore!
