..........advice. I know several people have had feed guidance from Spillers, Dodson & Horrell etc What did you think of it and did your horse do well? Has anyone got any contact details?

Basically now that Boo is working a lot harder than ever before, he is losing weight. He is usually a good doer but he's never been so busy in his life!! However, my mum always does the feeding and if I don't keep an eye on her she never seems to get it right

She is worried that if she feeds him too much he'll start to lose the plot (get extremely naughty) so we need to bulk his food up but making sure it's all non heating.

Who else has this problem and what do you feed?

Thankies

He's fed twice a day and he's on 1/2 scoop calm & condition nuts, a handful of chaff and 100ml of soya oil per feed. I know, I know, it's barely anything, that's why i'm doing something about it. He is out for 5 hours and has ad lib hay but like I said, my mum does the feeding as i'm not around

I second FMM, I can also say that putting my chap on Topspec was the best decision Ive made for him feed wise. However, if they dont think their products will suit, they will tell you what they think is best too.

I'd look at introducing another feed of the same amount later in the evening (say around 10.30 or 11.00 - which is what we do if we increase feeds)

Or simply up what you are already feeding twice a day to a scoop of the nuts and a scoop of the chaff to see how he goes on that.

Please ring or email Nikki at Saracen.
She is so knowledgeable and will give you sound advice, and will realise you want weight gain but not fizz.
She has just worked out a plan for William, who is showing trauma lines on his growth on his hooves (both relate to his two illnesses), and she even drops special feed off when she is in the area despite living in Wiltshire.
The feed is highly palatable (Chocolate is a fussy beggar) and comparitavely the same price as the other makes.
I was amazed just how many feeds they do, they are huge in the States, and are not that well known over here as yet, though Carl Hester uses their feed.
Chocx needed fizz as well as weight so he ended up on Preparation 14 and Equijewel, they also do a years supplement which eliminates the need fro pink powders and balancers.
If I sound enthusiastic that's because I am.. This is quite definitely the best feed we have ever used, and believe me, I've tried and awful lot as merchants' would agree!

Try Anne at dengie, or Jen at Baileys, or Linda at spillers.....

they're the ones that cover the north of england, but they'd give anyone advice.... you should be able to get their details off the websites, or ring the companies and ask....
