Have just realised that I haven't had any training since I did my pony club B test - and as I don't work with horses, I think some of my knowledge might be a bit outdated

So - I thought I'd better catch up.

Does anyone know any good short courses I could do? I was thinking maybe a distance learning thing?

Or recommend any really good books?

I'm mainly thinking in terms of equine nutrition and horse care, rather than riding...

Your help appreciated

quote- could maybe do my Assistant Instructor through that...

you'd have to do the bhs exams also, the equi study is a preparation not a bhs qualification

if you are on certain benefits you can get a discount (not sure which ones, but like housing/council tax benefit i think) the person who recommended equi study to me is on job seekers and their £85 course is costing about £30 odd quid

the stuff they send out for this is the same as the stuff on the degree courses, but they dont expect the same standard of work back from the student

We run short courses for BHS stage exams, ptt etc at our equine college. Lots of people do them without necessarily wanting to do the exams. They usually run over a 4/5 day week or two weekends, and cost about £50 (heavily subsidised) plus the course material at about £35. If you contacted your nearest agricultural college, they might offer the same sort of thing. They are intensive courses and you do need to do a bit of home studying, but are very useful if you want to brush up on your horse care.

I did a course with Equi study in 2003 and I found the course good and the tutors very helpful, I would really recommend equi study distance learning I enjoyed it.
