Need urgent advice on dog bites...

I have said I will buy a muzzle for her to use in future although in this case he had managed to remove his facial halti which is part muzzle anyway during the argument with the two Akitas- now this could be seen as my fault for not ensuring it was tight enough as he has never gotten it off before

I had a dog on trial from a rescue centre that was reactive to other dogs and had to be walked in a halti with a lead attached AND a collar/harness and lead. He used to go mental at the sight of another dog and twisted and lunged around so much that he could get out of halti or a body harness. It was like to trying to hold onto a wet fish LOL. No idea how he managed it but he did.

Blimey lol! He doesn't normally react to other dogs or people but dogs running towards him barking will set him off in a frenzy. People, we just give space to, I don't walk next to them but I don't actively shove them in his face. We just give them space and he is fine with that- this is where the dog walker went wrong.

Sorry if I am teaching granny to suck eggs and I presume you did so when introducing the headcollars, but please remember to introduce the muzzle slowly, and make it a positive thing, lots of taking it on and off in the house etc, if that means less walks and more training sessions with food and the muzzle for him over the next few days, feed him his dinner bit by bit as a reward for having it on for a few moments, then so be it!

I will of course make sure it is a positive thing, he is very special to me and I do what I can to cause him as little anguish as possible.

Thanks for the link to the suppressors- very interesting read and will look into it.

I've lost my dog walker, it's knocked her confidence and she no longer wants to walk for me. She is the only one in the area which causes me massive stress but it can't be helped, the dogs will miss her as they had developed a lovely bond with her.

Ugh! What a rubbish day.

Dog walking is not the (easy money maker) people think it is....there is a huge responsibility with this job and most look at it as some kind of part time hobby money maker!! her handling ability obs let her down, as suggested he should be insured, but I think he should also have been muzzled, was she only walking your 2? I doubt anything will come of it except (lessons learnt).

My dog walker always assess dogs before taking them in.
She would probably not have taken your dog. She got enough business as it is so no need to take the difficult cases.
I guess I understand her point of view.
