Has anybody used neem oil or powder for feather mites or sarcoids? I have 1 horse who is prone to mites (currently kept down with pig oil & sulphur) & another with a lot of sarcoids (Liverpool cream has had mixed results) & I wondered whether it is worth trying or whether it's just snake oil.

Havent used neem oil yet, but by all accounts, it may be worth a go. Please let us know if you do decide to use some.

I have used neem oil for my boys mites, but it did not work. So I am back to sulphur and udder cream and the injections every 8 weeks.

If you read up on neem oil, it sounds like it will cure so many problems with skin, but alas it didnt work for our cobs feather mites.

I have never used neem oil so can't comment personally on that.

You may want to check on this with your own Vet naturally, but I recently had a Boarder come to me from the stockyards with lice/mites amongst other things, my Vet said that Ivermectin will deal with them. As the horse had to be wormed anyway I did it with Bimectin and the visitors DID actually die.

I think I'll get some to put in the fly spray & have a go on the mites & see what happens. He had a really bad infestation at the end of Feb. Since then he has been wormed with invermectin & has has the jabs from the Vet as well as 10 day apart applications of PO & S. Will have a chat with the Vet about the sarcoids. We should get some feedback from Liverpool this week about the scabs that are still stuck solidly on.

Neem oil STINKS!!!!! I can see why flies stay away but have no experience of using it on sarcoids or mites Im afraid.
