I've been using it recently, just wiped it over and left it a few days to soften scabs, gently brushed it all off and replaced oil and it did a great job - within a couple of days the patches that had been scabbed had plenty of new hair growth coming through.
I did clip to get to the skin though - it's a bit claggy to use neat at this time of year on thick coats but might work if it was diluted with a thinner oil.
